A-2 drill rod is air-hardening ground & polished. Replaces 0-1. Safer heat treating, less distortion during hardening & greater wear resistance. Machinability is equal to or better than 0-1. Medium carbon, medium chrome content. Great for shafts, punches, tools, etc. +/-0.0005" tolerance on OD. 59/62 Rockwell hardness. 1725-1775 degrees F hardening temperature. Air quench. Temper at 350-500 degrees F. Referred to as Silver Steel in England. Dimensions shown are diameter & length.
